The Ghosts of Young Nicks head

The weather at Young Nicks Head was stormy with rain, thunder and lighting. With the window rattling away at the top story of the old house. Then flashes of lightning flashed in the room and lit the corners up of the room. Joe counted the seconds between the lightning and the thunder. The thunder which was shaking up above the house. Then all of a sudden the power went out. Alec spoke  it’s probably a power cut and the lightning had struck the power lines.

Next there was a loud knock on the front door, with a black,shadowy, round object at the door. Joe said to the door loud enough to hear on the other side “hello”. Joe opened the door. There standing in black gumboots, with a rain coat was a stranger. Next Joe's dad walked to the door. The stranger said to Alec since there is a power cut I thought that you might want some candles and some oil lamps. The oil lamps were rusty and old. The candles were used but still had some wax. Joe’s dad said to the stranger “thank you”. The stranger said that these will last you the whole night and maybe tomorrow night if the power is still out. Then Joe’s mum said you must come in for a cup of tea. But he said no thank you but, Joe’s mum insisted to have a cuppa. The stranger had walked away in the distance. All that Joe and his parents, Eddie could see was a dark,black spot in the distance. Then they lit the oil lamps and the candles on a sourcer. Joe and eddie had a candle each. Alec Joe’s dad had a oil lamp and so did Joe’s mum.

The Legend Of The Seven Whales

There once was a Tohunga who was an expert of any skill and art who lived in the east of the North Island. The face of the Tohunga was covered in tattoos. He also looks after seven whales. Their names are Tahutoria,Takitaki, Hikunui, who was the youngest whale of them all, Tuhara, Korito, Onepoto and Iwitea. They would all go and ask all the other fish in the sea if they had any news.

So they set off to see the other fish for some news. That was their responsibility. Takitaki preferred the Dolphins. Tahutoria liked to talk to other whales. Korito spoke to the Sharks. Onepoto talked to the Swordfish. Tuhara chatted to the Snapper and the Silver Frostfish. Iwitea gathered the news from the groper and the john dory. Hikunui got the news from the paua, with the Mable fish following him.  

One morning when the whales were heading out to sea they realised that Hikinui was not with them . Only Iwitea and Tuhara could be seen swimming out of Waiatai. Then suddenly Tohunga came out of nowhere and spoke to the whales saying, “you whales are in big trouble. If you are not out to the ocean by the time the sun rises, you will be really sorry.”

The sun had risen and the whales were not out to sea. So Tohunga striked the whales with lightning and with a big clap of thunder, they were turned into mountains. Now you can see the whales just east of Wairoa. Tuhutoria, Takitaki, Korito and Onepoto are the closest to the sea. Hikunui is fast asleep in the Waiatai Valley.           

5 things my teacher should know about me

1. My sister is in room 17 and she is 7. Sometimes she annoys me when I'm doing something. And she sometimes gets me with the hose and squirts me and splashes mewhen she is in the pool and I'm not even in my togs and I get angry.

2. I like cars like Toyota, Holden, Nissan, Mercedes Benz, Ford, Ferrari Lamborghini. I like all sorts of cars.

3. If I was a falcon I would fly around the sky and stand on a tall tree and look for pray and fly at 350km an hour.

4. I like listening to music like Metallica, Disturbed, Shihad, Linkin PARK

5. I like making stuff with LEGO like cars, trucks and planes, helicopters and all sorts of things.

Waka

Today Room 6 drove to Clive river to go for a waka ride. We had parents to drive us there. They were Maia s dad ,Georges mum and some other parents. I went with Maia’s dad. His car is a Honda Odyssey. I went with Maia’s dad and  Maia,Julius,Brooklyn and Mary.

We left school. It took us about 20 minutes to drive to Clive. We had to turn off at Fremden road. Then spot the rowing club sign. Turn down the stone drive. Then over the bank, turned right and on to some grass. Then we parked. Then we got out off the cars. We waited for Mr Moriarty to come. He finally arrived with Julius’s nan.

Then we all stood around waiting till we could go on the waka. Some people were excited and some were nervous. I was one of the nervous people. Then we all ran over to get a life jacket each and put them on. Then we walked over to an adult to see if the life jackets were tight enough. Then some of room 6 discovered that there was a whistle on them and they started to blow them. Mr Moriarty got sick of it so he blew his whistle. Then he told us to come over to him. Room 6 did.

Then Jim Edwards the waka leader was telling us bit of a story. Then Jim showed us some weapons. They were sharp. One of them had a head carved into it. The one that had a head on it the people that they were fighting against thought they going to throw it because it was sharp but they didn't. Instead they would use the other end to whack the other people. This other one had a triangle on a stick.

These were the commands Jim gave us were Kia riti which means get ready. Tokihi which means work together and maintaining the rhythm. The third one hoe which means paddle. The fourth one whakamutu which means stop. Ta papa lean forward. Tipuna means ancestors. The ancestors were carved on the side of the waka. Tumatauenga which means god of the war.

Then all room 6 got a piece of carpet. Then we climbed aboard the waka in the Clive River. The water was murky. Sometimes we would stop paddling and hold up our hoe straight into the air pointing to the sky. Then do a pukana. We paddled under and past Clive bridge. We paddled past lots of houses along the way. Then we had to turn around and come back. We had some help from Jim. Then all of room 6 and the parents started to paddled in reverse for a few minutes. As we were paddling forward again there were patches of weed in the water and sticking above. We paddled under and past the bridge once more. Then we had to turn again. But this time we had to do it by ourselves without the help of Jim. The people on the left side of the waka had to paddle with the backside of the paddle out so it was facing to the bank. The people on the right side had to put the green and white side, pointing to the other bank on the other side, pushing out like the people on the left.

Then we arrived back at where room 6 started. We hopped off the waka. Walked over the little bridge. Room 6 took off their life jackets and put them back into the boxes where we found them. We hopped back into the cars that we came in and drove back to school. It took about 20 minutes again. He waka eke noa, which means we are all in the waka together.

The hardest part was paddling backwards. The fun part was paddling. Something I learnt was the waka weighs 6 tons on its own.    

My Learning

Laser Tag

I was going to Palmerston North for my cousin's birthday. He was turning 13. So now he is a teenager now.  It is down the road from Daytona Go Karts. We were at Daytona Go Karts before laser tag. We eventually got to laser tag in Palmerston North.

Going were me, my two cousins and some of my cousins friends , my nana ,and my great aunty. I was playing with my cousins and their friends. All of us were going to play laser tag wanted 3 games and that was the maximum that we could have.” Ethan said ok then “ we will have 3 games.

Then we had to watch this video about how to play Laser Tag. We all sat down on seats to watch it. You had sensors on your stomach and both of your shoulders and one on your back. To hit them you had to shoot at those sensors. If your shoot them so manys times, you kill them at you get points for shooting them thats, if you kill them. Im not sure of how many points you get for killing them. I also think that you can get points for just hitting them. Im not quite sure on that.   There are two types of guns that you can choose from. They are the phaser that can shoot long range. The blaster which is used to shoot at close range. They all make sounds. Then if you shoot something it would give you a machine gun. To operate it you had to put your hand under it near the top of the gun. Then you could shoot. It ended.

Then me and my cousins and friends walked into this room with all the vests with the guns hanging on the side by a cable. A man came along with this device, and waved it in front of us and it gave us what teams that we were on. I wasn't sure what it was I was blue and the other team was red. On my team was Ethan and his friend. The other team was just Jatin and Ethan friend,s sister. The man told us to walk through this door that had red led lights that were around the outside of the door. You had names like mine was Torpedo, Ethans was Ace and his friends sisters name was Batman. Ethans friends name was Bubble. Then it started to countdown 5 4 3 2 1 0 and then the game started. I was like ohhhh its about to start in my head. Then it started.

Everything was dark black with a outlined with the colour range of yellow,  red, green, orange and blue. It must have been glow paint. Even though it was hard to hide from the other team I still managed to hide. Then I scored 2200 points I think it was in the first game. One dumb thing about it was sometimes they would put you on another team which was stink. Ethan and his friend beat me and his friends sister. I beat his sister 400 points.

Sometimes you would hit your own teammate by accident. The next game I hid behind a wall and I was like a sniper trying to shoot the other team. I was just sitting on the ground to shoot. A few times Ethan’s friend and his sister would come by and I would shoot from behind. Then they would run away and hid again so I would have to find them again. At the end of the game I managed to beat my score of 2200 points. The score was 3400. I thought to myself I must be getting better at laser tag.

Colour Days

Monday is red, because it is time to go to school and start another week.   

Tuesday is black, getting better at least it is not Monday.    

Wednesday is green, half way through the week.

Thursday is orange nearly there, one more day after today left of school.

Friday is yellow, because it is the last day of school that week.

Saturday is blue, yes it is the weekend today, finally I have got a game of soccer to play.  

Sunday is grey, yes I get to sleep in this morning.

3 Favourite Dishes

I wrote about 3 of my favourite dishes.

This is my mum’s recipe.

it is creamy, juicy, soft, melts in your mouth,  

These are the ingredients that you need.

425g of tuna in a can with springwater.

1 cups of cheese your choice

500g pasta your choice

495g of Dolmio tuna bake pasta sauce.

double everything if you want to make a bigger.

Cooking instructions

1 preheat the oven to 180 degrees

2 cook 200g of dry pasta.

3 combining  cooked pasta, drained 425g can of tuna in springwater and Dolmio Tuna Bake Sauce into a baking dish.

4 Cover with 1 cup of grated cheese.

5 Baking for 20 minutes or until golden brown and then saying’ it's ready.

This is amazing one of my favourite foods.

Its creamy, spicy, smells spicy, tastes buttery, smooth, chewy, soft, melts in your mouth, sets your tongue on fire.

These are the ingredients that you need to make Butter Chicken.

500g of diced chicken

50g of butter

2 cloves of garlic, crushed

1 tsp of tumeric

1 tsp of cumin

1 tsp of ground nutmeg

½ tsp each salt and pepper

2 Tbsp of tomato paste

½ tsp garam masala

1 onion, chopped

black pepper

½  cup of cream

1 tsp of chilli seasoning

Macaroni cheese is one of my favourite foods. Macaroni tastes creamy, moist ,cheesy, liquidy, soft, smooth.

  to make macaroni cheese you need these ingredients.

500g of Macaroni

1 cup cheese of your choice

4 slices bacon optional

half an onion diced  optional

1 tablespoon of butter

salt

On the 12 of february 2014 our class walked to see the hearing association person she told us about who easy we can damage our ears. There were three things we could do and they were turn it down or walk away or block your ears. Her name was Caroline. Caroline talk to us about our hearing. She was telling us that we have little hairs in our ears. The class did some experiments about vibrating. She each gave us a ping pong ball and a turning fork. We held the tuning fork by the end at the bottom. Then we hit the floor with the tuning fork and put the ball beside it. The vibration made the ball hit it then bounce back. The  next experiment that we did was hitting the turning fork to the floor again. This time the class  hit it to the floor and the class did what  Caroline told us to put our finger and we could feel the vibration in the metal. If you stared at it was blurry when you looked at it and it was all fuzzy as well.  We also played with pipe cleaners to pretend that they were our hairs in our ears. We were moving the tips of the pipe cleaners as well to pretend that they were hearing sounds.  At the end we had the pretend, stereo up and they were going really fast. Then we made the tips go really fast and, at the end the pipe cleaners were all bended and twirled around and twisted. I Learned that we have little hairs in our ears. I enjoyed learning what things to do if you hear loud noises and they were walk away or turn it down or block your ears.                            

Holiday ABC

Yachting reflection day 2

For yachting today we did kayaking first then we did yachting afterwards  we did kayaking. For kayaking today we went from the shore we went under the bridge and around to the sailing club. we went all around it was like a bit of a maze to go thru but it was awesome and cool to do and go thru under the bridge and go around in the sailing club. I went with gretas dad and his name is grant. The way back under the bridge we saw a seal that was brown it was only a small seal but still it was cool to see. It was laying on a rock under the bridge. For yachting it was a bit scary because it was really windy and me and Jack W nearly capsized but apart from that it we'll reckoned it was pretty good doing yachting today it was fun and enjoyable. It was good to partner up with Jack W because he is reliable and also trustworthy. Jack is also a good friend that I know of. Jack was pretty good choice to go with in the yachts. In the yacht at one stage we nearly capsized we were inches from capsizing into the water that was really cold at one stage. It was a bit of a ride because it was at one stage a bumpy ride across the water but apart from that I reckon that I  did pretty good with yachting and kayaking in the water today. I had fun and I also enjoyed it as well. but for me kayaking is the best out of the two. Yachting alright but I like kayaking better thought. We have to do it again Thursday and also Friday again. I might team up with someone like Josh or someone. I reckon I did pretty well with yachting and kayaking.Kayaking is easy peasy for me but its just yachting that i have to work on doing. To work on with yacht just get the tiller turning properly watch the wind wherever it is coming  

Yachting reflection day 1

For yachting today we did yachting first and then we did kayaking after we did yachting. In yachting my partner that I went with was Gabe which is big brother the reason why we call him big brother is because he is the oldest in our class. Yachting was alright but I preferred kayaking more because I like it  better than yachting.In yachting I didn’t know really what I was doing but yeah to say it was pretty good to do yachting. It was an new experience for me but it was fun to do along with kayaking.In kayaking my partner first in the double kayak was Renee. Then miss Garland said see if you can paddle all the way to the island which was right  in the middle of pandora pond. Me and Renee got there and we got back to shore all right.We came third place.  Then we had a race back to the side of the pond that we started at.The kayak that I was in was a blue and green kayak. Then I had another buddie because Renne wanted to go in a single kayak so my buddie that came over was bhrt and we went in the blue and green double kayak that we were in before. Then we both paddled all the back to the island and then we had another race from the island that was in the middle and all the way back to shore. I'm not sure what place we came but we came in the top ten. I had fun and I  would do it again. It was enjoyable to do yachting. We have to do it again tomorrow as well. Next time I might go with flynn or someone or someone like that thought. I reckon I did pretty well with yachting and kayaking but kayaking is easy peasy for me i've just got to work on yachting. I need to work on with yachting is get the turning right and also watch where the wind was coming from.  

Instrations for being a parkvale learner

Welcome to Parkvale School. Parkvale school is the best school in New Zealand and its also the best school that I know of.

What you need to do is get ready for your first day at Parkvale School.

lunchbox and a drink bottle.

uniform with navy blue pants and shorts and a navy blue top with the parkvale tree on the left side and have a navy blue school jersey too that has the parkvale tree on the left ok side of the jersey.  

bring your laptop charger if its going to be flat and your computer. pride.

shoes with laces or velcro.

computer case.  

book packet.

school bag.    

When you first arrive at parkvale school you walk to your classroom to hang up your bag on the hook and don't be late for school or you might get in trouble. School starts at 8.45am. If you're in a computer class when the bell rings you go to your classroom and get started on your computer and kick off commenting on people's blogs and if you're not in a computer class you just sit on the mat waiting for the teacher to came into the classroom to do the roll. Then you start maths after you finish doing blog commenting.

maths  you'll be other being on your computer of doing maths in your maths book or you might be seeing the teacher for some maths. If you don't know the question don't hesitate just ask someone or the teacher or even someone in your maths group.

brainfood.  After maths you have a brake to have something to eat which we call it here at parkvale school is brainfood which idel is to have some fruit of some kind or some  popcorn that hasn't had butter put on it or any caramel on the popcorn ather of not salted is not for brainfood but ordinary popcorn is all right to have but any other popcorn is not ideal for having at brainfood.

writing. then writing starts straight away after brainfood and if you don't want to stay want to stay inside for morning tea i suggest to get on with your work and finish it before morning tea. and for a tip just keep  track of that you are putting capital letters in and punctuation thats what some teachers remind you about it.  

morning tea.  then it will be morning tea time and i suggest to play with my friends ben ,cameron and sometimes liam and ollie, dylan, tyrone  because they play rugby normally at morning tea time and lunch time too but its pretty fun to play rugby with Ben,Cameron, Ollie, Liam and sometimes marcus plays and sometimes he hulks up and gets really mad and might even take you so sometimes he just walks away but I  suggest to play with Ben, Cameron, Ollie, Liam and marcus, dylan, tyrone  but its still fun to play with all of them and ben and liam are pretty good at kicking the ball throw the goal posts.

fitness.  Then straight  after morning tea it is time to do fitness and every time we do fitness after morning tea and every second day room 19 which is my class and room 18,16, 20 do fitness with us and every second day  we do running laps around the field and the tennis court and when you go round after every time you get 1 ice block stick as you go round there are different colors  like blue, purple, red, orange and brown. I think that is all the colors that there is. the teachers say from room 20 and 19, 18 say don't, stop running and no writing and also theres another tip don't run your fastest at the start because your run out of energy if you run too fast at the start your might get 100 metres and your out of energy to keep on going.    

Then after fitness its time to do reading in the classroom and what you do in reading time you lunch. might see the teacher with your group at the table or might go on your computer to dogonews to read an article about something like cars, fish , sea creatures, maybe birds, or anything  that you can find on dogonews and i reckon dogonews is something i would do when i finished my work from the teacher after you're finished your work is a good i dare i say a good i dare. Sometimes you don't get to go to lunch because you haven't finished your work you will stay in to finish it Then after lunch it will be sup.

sup straight  after lunch when you came in to class its time to do sup which is either doing silent reading or silent writing about something you did in the holidays or something you did in the weekend but its up to you whatever  you write about.

unit in unit this term we are learning coulther about other countries and our country is fiji and some other class might have the same country or a different country for unit some might have a country from continents like   Europe or Asia or America or Australia or Africa but i reckon fiji is a spectacular country to do for unit this term. we normally do unit to abou 2.30 sometimes a little bit earlier and after unit its time to pack up for home time.

pack up time. pack up time is you stuck up the chairs. there are two different types of plastic chairs are one with two holes in it with 6 lines 2 on each side then theres the other chair and the other chair has just two sort of circles on each side and no lines going thru the middle and if you put one of the chairs on the other different type they won't stack properly is the only problem with stacking the chairs. They're all so cubes that are two different color  they are green like grass and the other color of the other cubes are pink like dots as in pink poka dots. Then sometimes after we have packed up we might have a game of silent ball which is a game that you have a ball and you have to catch it and if you don't catch it you will be out but if it is a bad throw you won't be out and the person that threw the ball would be out. then there's another game called pukel that we play, so your hands are guns and when you go to shoot you dont say      

band to say pukel but is a all right game and theres another game that we play and that is called blob , so you have at least 4 taggers and when one of the taggers get you you are in so you join hands with the tagger. Then there's another game that we play and it is called toilet flush and you have at least 4 to 6 taggers once more again you have taggers and when they tag you then thats when you turn into a toilet and if you're still in the game someone will come and sit on you and they have to go toilet on you but not actually go toilet on you its just pretend to go toilet on you but anyway after you go toilet you flush and so you're back in the game after someone has gone toilet on you.

I suggest you,re at school on time. I also suggest to have as a teacher miss garland.
