The 2014 Commonwealth Games are in Glasgow, Scotland. This morning at 9.00 room 6 and 8 interviewed him from the Commonwealth village. Over in Scotland was 10.00. We were very lucky to talk to Craig Palmer which is Cameron’s and Thomas’s uncle. He is in Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games
We asked him questions about the Commonwealth Games. A girl from room 8 asked “how many Commonwealth Games have you been to?” He answered back saying
“I have been in two Commonwealth Games , In 2006 I went to Melbourne, Australia, so this is my second time going to the Commonwealth Games.”
His job is being a cyclist scientist. He collects the details to make a training program. He told us that the bikes do not have any spokes. The bikes are very light and are made out of carbon fibre. Carbon fibre is very light and strong. Carbon fibre makes things go faster because it is very light. He also makes sure, that he gets the best out of the bikes and to make the bikes more aerodynamic.
The Commonwealth Games go for at least two weeks , or just short of two weeks. There are approximately about 320 athletes (or just short) from New Zealand that are competing in the Commonwealth Games. He meets with other athletes from New Zealand in different sports. The racing starts Friday morning New Zealand time. In Scotland it would start Thursday. The length of the velodrome track is 250 metres long. The athletes train for most of their lives. They also train every day.
He even showed us the Scottish mascot. It had a kilt and a white Scottish hat. The Commonwealth Games is, all the countries that the queen owns. Craig, Cameron and Thomas’s uncle showed us the Commonwealth Games village with all the rooms for the athletes to stay in. Then in a little white tent outside there was some spa pools. Then Miss H asked Craig to show us all that it was ten o'clock at night in Glasgow. So he showed us out the window to see the village and the sky. Since Scotland is so close to the North Pole, was still a lot of light in the sky.
That story is Gerat.
